Annual Town Meeting is May 6 at Sharon High School

The Annual Town Meeting will be held Monday, May 6 in the Sharon High School auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. There will be limited seating outdoors for those in need who arrive prior to the doors opening.

The Annual Town Meeting Warrant, which lists all the articles of business for voters to decide on, was mailed to residents and is also is available online at www.townofsharon.net.

Please bring your warrant with you. A limited supply of warrants will be available at the meeting.

Parking is available in the Sharon High School lot, the lot across Pond Street and the Veterans Memorial Park Beach lot if needed. See map attached below or follow this link.

Several services are available to help make the Annual Town Meeting accessible to all residents.

• The number of handicap spaces at Sharon High School lot has been increased for the Town Meeting.
• There will be seats marked for accessibility.
• If a voter has any specific accessibility needs, they only need to alert the person checking them in and they will be directed to a member of the Town Clerk’s staff who is prepared to work with them to meet those needs.
• During the meeting close captioning of the proceedings will be provided on a screen in the auditorium.
• There will be six microphones. If anyone has a mobility challenge that makes it difficult to get to a designated microphone, you may use whichever is closest or a portable microphone will be brought to you.
• There is a family area near the cafeteria for those with young children.
• There will be a direct video feed and an Assistant Moderator in the family area so those who bring children can participate in the discussion and vote.

You need to be a registered voter to cast a vote at Town Meeting, but non-registered voters are welcome to attend.

If you arrive after Town Meeting has begun you can still be admitted but not during an active vote.

There will be six microphones in the auditorium.

• Microphone 1 will be at the front of the stage and reserved for presentations and town officials who may need to respond to a question.
• Microphones 2 and 3 will be in the front of the aisles. These will be for advocacy in favor of what is being considered or opposed, respectively.
• Microphones 4 and 5 will be in the rear of the auditorium. These microphones are designated for questions rather than arguments.
• A sixth microphone will be portable.
